Promise changes, month by month
The monthly churn of power-plant completion promises: capacity pushed later versus pulled earlier, month by month.
What does it show?
The monthly churn behind the Power Delay Index: how much capacity had its promised date pushed later (red, above zero) versus pulled earlier (green, below) compared with the prior month. The imbalance is the story — in a typical month, ten to thirty times more capacity moves later than earlier.
Methodology
Each month's vintage is compared with the previous one, generator by generator. Any generator present in both with dates in both contributes its full MW to "pushed later" or "moved earlier" if its promised month changed.
Limits
Only generators present in consecutive vintages with dates in both count, so brand-new entries and exits don't appear here (they appear in the pipeline and groundbreaking series instead). "Moved earlier" usually means clawing back part of an earlier delay, not beating the original schedule.
