Remote work is durable—but still drifting down
This chart focuses on the direction of remote work since 2023. It overlays a simple time trend on the monthly WFH Research series and should not be read as a forecast.
What does it show?
Remote work remains far above its pre-pandemic baseline, but since 2023 its fitted trend has declined by about 1.0 percentage points per year.
Methodology
Uses the monthly Survey of Working Arrangements and Attitudes headline series beginning in January 2023 and overlays an ordinary least-squares time trend. The slope summarizes the average direction over this selected period; it is not a forecast, and month-to-month sampling variation, composition, and source interpolation remain in the underlying series.
