This chart ranks the countries and economies generating the most solar electricity in the latest available year. It uses Ember’s annual generation data and excludes regional aggregates; the ranking measures output, not installed capacity, investment, or solar’s share of each grid.
What does it show?
China generates far more solar electricity than any other country.
Methodology
Ranks country-or-economy records in Ember's Solar category by annual generation for 2025. Displays the ten largest values in terawatt-hours. Regional and world aggregates are excluded to avoid double counting; this is electricity generated, not installed solar capacity.
