Oil Prices
This chart compares monthly Brent and West Texas Intermediate crude-oil spot prices in U.S. dollars per barrel. It uses EIA monthly averages of daily closing prices; the benchmarks represent different crude markets and do not equal retail fuel prices or the price received by every producer.
What does it show?
Brent and WTI continue to move closely together, with only a small spread between them.
Methodology
Monthly EIA spot prices for Europe Brent (RBRTE) and Cushing, Oklahoma WTI (RWTC), in nominal U.S. dollars per barrel. EIA calculates each monthly value as an unweighted average of the available daily closing spot prices. These are crude-oil benchmarks, not retail fuel prices or prices received by every producer.
