Dror Poleg’s Data Dashboard

Monthly Movers: Prices, Rates, and Activity

By Dror Poleg

A single-screen summary of recent movement across the dashboard: each row is one indicator, each cell one month of the past three years, and the color shows how unusual that month's move was against the series' own history — cobalt for jumps, red for drops, darker for bigger. The rows are re-ranked at every refresh by whatever moved most in the last six months, so the top of the wall is always the current action: lately oil prices, data-center construction, and inflation expectations.

What does it show?

The dashboard's recent motion on one screen: each row is an indicator, each cell a month of the last three years. Dark cobalt months jumped, dark red months fell hard — right now customs duties and data-center vs office construction top the wall.

Methodology

Every monthly series already published on the dashboard with at least six years of history is scanned each refresh. For each series, month-over-month changes are standardized against the mean and standard deviation of that series' own changes before the 36-month display window, giving a z-score per month. The 26 rows with the largest absolute z-score in the last six months are kept, so the wall always surfaces whatever moved most recently. Color marks direction; intensity is capped at three standard deviations.
