Global Commodity Prices
This chart compares the World Bank’s monthly price indices for energy, metals and minerals, agriculture, and fertilizers. Each category uses the same 2010 baseline, making broad movements comparable while concealing variation among the individual commodities inside each group.
What does it show?
Metals, agriculture, and fertilizer remain above their 2010 levels, while the broad energy index is below it.
Methodology
Monthly World Bank Pink Sheet group indices for energy, metals and minerals, agriculture, and fertilizers, read from the stable Historical Data Monthly workbook. The indices are based on nominal U.S.-dollar prices and normalized to 2010 = 100; this chart begins in January 1990. Group indices combine multiple commodities and do not show the price of any single contract.
