Corporate Buzzword of the Year
This chart names the tracked phrase with the largest annual percentage-point gain in searchable 10-K mention share. It is a deliberately selective yearbook of nine exact phrases—not a comprehensive ranking of corporate language—and measures disclosure momentum rather than adoption.
What does it show?
Cloud computing led the filing-share momentum race in 2015–2016 and 2019, ESG won four consecutive years from 2020–2023, and artificial intelligence took 2024–2025.
Methodology
For each year from 2014 onward, selects the tracked exact phrase with the largest year-over-year increase in its share of the searchable 10-K universe from The Corporate Buzzword Cycle. The contest uses percentage-point gains, which favors phrases capable of moving at meaningful absolute scale; it is not a growth-rate ranking. Only the dashboard's nine predefined phrases can win, and the result is sensitive to exact wording, additions to the watchlist, filing composition, and the searchable denominator. A win measures disclosure momentum, not adoption, importance, sincerity, or investment performance.
