What does it show?

Data centers have changed both the composition and the total scale of the category Census still calls Office construction.

Methodology

Monthly private construction spending at a seasonally adjusted annual rate. The Census Office category is decomposed into its published General, Data center and Financial components. Other office is the nonnegative residual to the Office total and includes uses such as motion-picture, television and radio offices. Values come from the detailed C30 private-construction workbook and are converted from millions to billions of dollars.
