This map shows the share of employer businesses in each state reporting recent AI use in any business function. It uses the Census Business Trends and Outlook Survey; darker blue represents a higher reported share, while suppressed cells and sampling variation limit precise state-to-state comparisons.
What does it show?
Business AI adoption varies meaningfully by state instead of spreading evenly across the country.
Methodology
Census Business Trends and Outlook Survey state estimates for nonfarm employer businesses, published biweekly. The value is the share answering Yes to using AI in any business function during the prior two weeks (Question 7). Census-suppressed cells are unavailable. Darker blue means a higher share in the latest release. DC and Puerto Rico are included; the multi-state XX category is excluded. Parsed from the public State.xlsx workbook.
